We are pleased to announce that a 1982 two-manual Schantz organ is being installed in the chapel in July 2008. Executive Director Timothy Smith is coordinating volunteers and professionals in the project. (Watch the slide show of pipe washing and moving day.)
While we’re keeping the stoplist “under wraps” for a few more weeks, we are confident of this organ’s reliability and versatility. All families of pipe tone--principals, flutes, strings and reeds—are represented. The encased instrument will be the very first pipe organ to sound in our building’s 168-year history. The console is well-appointed and will be moveable.
Gifts have enabled the immediate purchase of this fine organ, yet $12,000 remains to complete the organ portion of our project. While gifts of $1,000 and more can be designated as memorials, any amount is most welcome. Organists: please invest in the future of our profession with your tax-deductible financial support. We’re close to the goal: your gift will help the organ sing!
